AI Capital Fund VCC
A new early-stage private equity investments firm, focused on South and Southeast Asia, and Africa, has been launched. It is called AI Capital Fund VCC and together with its sub fund(s) has been incorporated in Singapore.

The fund is being run with New York-based Rohatyn Group (TRG), a specialised global emerging markets asset management firm, on conclusion of TRG's acquisition of Ethos Private Equity, a private equity business in sub-Saharan Africa.

The fund has been established by founding partners Michael Jordaan, Willem Roos, Nic Kohler, and Roger Grobler, all of whom are former founders, entrepreneurs, CEOs, and investors.

The partners have generated “strong historical returns” across AI Fund I and II over the past eight years, a statement from the fund said.

The existing AI Fund I and II investments include TymeBank in South Africa and GoTyme in the Philippines, a digital bank, and Rain, a 5G telco in South Africa.  

Africa-based Standard Bank is the investment banking partner of AI Capital.
